Buying guide
Cut-to-length line buying guide
A cut-to-length line buying guide should start with material data and finished sheet requirements, then move into line configuration, control scope and acceptance standards.
1. Define the material window
Before comparing equipment, prepare steel grade, yield strength, incoming coil width, thickness range, coil inner diameter, outer diameter and maximum coil weight. These values decide the uncoiler, leveler, feeder, shear and stacker capacity.
For wider or thicker coils, the line usually needs stronger pinch rolls, a heavier-duty leveler and a stacking system designed for the expected sheet weight. Thin material may need more careful tension and surface protection.
2. Choose the leveling and cutting route
The core decision is whether the project needs standard fixed shearing, high-speed flying shear cutting or a more specialized layout. A flying shear can help maintain continuous line speed, while fixed shear equipment can be simpler for lower speed or heavier gauge projects.
Leveling accuracy should be discussed together with target sheet flatness, downstream application and allowable tolerance. A stronger leveler does not solve every process issue; material history and incoming coil quality still matter.
3. Confirm stacking and discharge requirements
Finished sheet length, stack height, bundle weight and pallet handling affect the layout. If the workshop has limited space, share the available line length, crane position and material flow direction early in the quotation process.
4. Data to send for quotation
- Material grade, yield strength and surface requirements.
- Thickness range, width range, coil weight and finished sheet length.
- Target production speed, annual capacity and shift schedule.
- Preferred shear type, stacking method and automation level.
- Workshop drawing, crane capacity and power supply information.

Send the above data to Junjian Machinery. The engineering team can review whether a standard cut-to-length configuration is enough or whether the project needs a customized layout.
